The core elements of high quality in early childhood are well-educated and well-compensated staff; yet child care providers may be the poorest paid group of professionals in the nation. This vast pool of underpaid women have shown a willingness to put their real needs aside to serve our young children.  Mobilizing them to advocate for themselves, as key elements in quality early education, is critical to the welfare of our society.
